Five Question Friday

It's been awhile since I've done one of these so here we go.

1. If you bake during the holidays, what is your favorite thing to make?

I love holiday baking!  I haven't been able to do any this year because I've been so sick but I'm already thinking of all the yummy things I'm going to make next year.

As a kid, I loved to help my mom make the poinsettia cookies.  I loved rolling out the dough and cutting them into squares and then folding the corners in to look like little poinsettia flowers.  That was my favorite thing.

2. Present giving: Gift bag vs wrapped box?

Either is fine with me in general.  But I actually like wrapping gifts.  I think it's fun.  That might change when we have more presents to wrap but right now, I prefer to wrap them.

 3. What do you keep your thermostat on during the winter/summer in your house?

We live in an apartment with a radiator for our heater so I have no idea where it's set.  It's actually really dumb because it's regulated by the building and sometimes it gets really hot.

During the summer, we use a window unit for an air conditioner so whenever it gets hot, we just turn that on.  I hate being hot so whenever it's on, it's on the coldest setting.

 4. When thinking of your "Christmas to-do list" what percentage "done" are you?

I'd say my to-do list is about 95% done.  I only have two more presents to get and that's about it.  It's easy when you don't have kids and you go away for the holidays.  There isn't much you need to do.  Plus, we've made it a simple holiday this year since I haven't been able to do much.

 5. Do you do the "Elf on a Shelf"? If so, is your Elf naughty and what shenanigans has he gotten into?

Technically, we don't have kids so there's no point in doing this.  By next year, we will have a baby so we still won't do it.  In fact, we probably will never do it.  We already have a few traditions that we do and I don't want to fill Christmas up with so many traditions that there's no room to be flexible.

But really, the two main reasons for not doing it is that the elf I see in everyone's homes is really creepy looking and, I don't think that I would be able to remember to move the elf every day before I went to bed and I know that D wouldn't either.

Have a great weekend!

i love the elf on the shelf idea, and whenever we have kids I would love to do it. Granted we don't have many family traditions with the two of us, so this could definitely be one.

Poinsetta cookies. Sounds amazing! Even with your description I can't quite wrap my head around how those are made, though you make it sound pretty easy. Love the idea!

I'm stopping by for the 5QF today. I actually had to look up "Elf on a Shelf" because I just had no idea. But once I did I remember my mother's elves! lol
I love reusing gift boxes, paper and bags every year.
I'm an Air Force brat married to a Navy guy. Thank you and your husband so much for your service to our country.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Dropping by from 5QF . . . Poinsettia cookies? I've never heard of them, but they sound cool.

My son is grown, so no elf on the shelf here, though if it had been the rage when he was a kid, I probably would've done it; I think they're sort of cute, though I'm not sure why they seem to be so mischievous. That sort of defeats the purpose, I'd think. But we watched a Christmas special about him just tonight which was sort of cute.
