Orphanage Support Services Organization

This post has nothing to do with the military but it is about a topic that is very close to my heart.  I'm not writing about this to toot my own horn.  But I'm posting because my favorite organization is in need of volunteers.  Almost three years ago, I came home from volunteering in orphanages for three months in Ecuador.  This experience was one of the best experiences I've had in my life.  I still think about those kids that I saw every day and I still miss them very much.

Unfortunately, the Orphanage Support Services Organization is in great need of more volunteers.  Volunteering in Ecuador a challenging experience but very rewarding at the same time.  You get to work with adorable kids that will love you as much as you will love them.  You will get the chance to live like the Ecuadorians do and not as a tourist.  But, you'll also get the chance to travel around Ecuador and see some pretty awesome sites things, like this one:

The Basilica in Old Towne Quito

And you get to do some really cool things like:
Ziplining over the rainforest (sorry I don't have a picture of me actually in the air.  I wish I did.)
And you get to eat interesting things like:
Guinea Pig... yum!  (Really, it's not as bad as you think)
And let's not forget about the adorable kids you get to spend time with every day... (Sorry, I can't post any pictures of the kids, it's against Ecuadorian law to post pictures of orphans on public websites without permission.)
This experience is definitely not for everyone.  But if you or someone you know is already thinking about going on some sort of humanitarian trip in the future, I would strongly recommend the Orphanage Support Services Organization.  For more information, you can check out their website: http://orphanagesupport.org or you can click on the button on the left hand side of this blog.
